Hello members of the CHS Class of 64.  What a wonderful time we had in the late summer as about 70 class members and spouses celebrated our 60 birthday year together!  It was a fun and nostalgic evening and it was nice hearing brief updates on each class member there, and to share e-mails from several more living a long way off!

We decided, in additional to memorials at the death of class members, to try to also acknowlege the death of class member spouses.  Please keep Bill Maddox or Ann Johnson posted in this regard.

We also decided to provide a plaque in memory of our classmate, Jimmy Taylor, who was the first Carroll County native killed in Vietnam.  (Jimmy was born 9/14/1946 and KIA in Vietnam 10/25/1966.  He is buried in Abilene Baptist Church cemetery on Highway 113.)  The plaque is $300. and will go on the Wall of Honor at the Carroll County Veterans Memorial Park.  (See info below from Bill Maddox.)

We also sent a memorial donation from the class to the Brain Tumor Foundation for Children when Jan Robinson Bell's young grandson, Cooper Bell, recently died of an inoperable malignant brain tumor.

Some of you already made contributions toward the plaque/memorials at the recent party.  I'd like to encourage all of you to be a part of these memorials (both for Jimmy Taylor and ongoing class memorials) by making a contribution to the Class Fund -- mail to:

Thanks for your help, and thanks for the continued camaraderie of a great group of childhood friends!

I didn't know about Janice.  I am copying your message to the classmates on my address book.  If you have any other addresses, I am sure they would like to know.  Is the visitation before the service?  Thanks, Pat, for letting me know.  Kathy

Good morning CHS Class of '64 friends.

The local newspaper headlines this morning pay tribute to Stanley
Parkman, Carroll Parkman Will's father, who passed away one month short
of
his 92nd birthday.  The family will receive visitors today (Tuesday)
from 5:00 - 8:00  pm. at Almon Funeral Home: the funeral is tomorrow
(Wednesday) at First Baptist Church at 2:00 pm.

I haven't rebuilt my class of '64 e-mail list, so if you see someone
whose address is not included, please forward this message to those I
missed.

Carroll's address from our 40th reunion address book:
4200 Shire Court
Roswell, GA 30075

Dear  Classmates, Mozelle Nixon Lambert, 89, of South Street, died June
24, 2007.  She is Allen Nixon's mother.  I know this is somewhat late,
but visitation is tonight (Tuesday) from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Almon
Funeral Home.  The funeral is Wednesday at 2:00 pm from Almon Funeral Home
 chapel.

I do not have Allen current address but will send it in a later e-mail.
He has moved since the 40th class reunion so the address in our
reunion booklet is no longer correct.  He lives in Lorton, VA.

Continuing from the previous email concerning the obituary of Allen
 Nixon's mother, Mozelle Nixon Lambert:
Allen's sister gave me his current address. If you would like to send
Allen a note his address is 7505 Woodside Lane, Apt. 13, Lorton, VA
 22079.
P.S. If you can find your 40th class reunion booklet, you may want to
 update his address

Dear Class of 64,

For those of you who missed it, there was a nice article with pictures on the front page of the July 4th Carrollton paper honoring our classmate Jimmy Taylor, who was the first American soldier from Carroll County killed in action in Vietnam (1966).

The article was in regard to the engraved stone memorial plaque that you, his classmates, generously provided to honor our fallen classmate at the young age of 20.  I have visited and looked up Jimmy's name on the Vietnam Wall in Washington D.C. several times, and am glad that we now have the relatively new Veterans Memorial Park right here in Carrollton.  Thanks to those classmates who helped financially sponsor the memorial and special thanks to Bill Maddox for coordinating the project!

We have an on-going memorial fund from which we send (as the CHS Class of '64) flowers or a memorial gift at the death of a classmate or spouse.  Anyone who wishes to make a contribution to this fund should mail a check (CHS Class of '64 Memorial Fund) to Bill Maddox, 74 Hampton Way, Carrollton, GA  30116.

Hope you are all having a good 2008!
Sincerely,
     Dick Ingle

Dear classmates,
I am sending a request for prayer for Brenda Hubbard Burks.  She went to the emergency room about a week ago, dizzy and out of breath.  X-rays showed spots on her lungs.  The report came back showing cancer in her breast, lungs, and in her lymph nodes.  It is stage IV - fast spreading.  She began chemotherapy today.  Some friends who have talked to her let me know about her condition, and we thought a request for prayer and support by sending cards could certainly help her.  Her address is 778 New Hope Rd. Carrollton, GA 30117.  Our friends are so special.  Please be thinking of her husband, Willard, and her family, too.

Dear CHS Class of 1964 Classmates,

Just wanted to let you know that a group of 10 of our local classmates got together last night to start planning for a 45th reunion get-together.  More details will be coming later, but for now I wanted to ask you to do two things:

1.  Please mark your calendar and hold the evening of September 19, 2009 for this purpose, and plan to join us if at all possible.

2.  Let me know if you know of any of our classmates (on this e-mail list or otherwise) who have had a change of contact information (residence or e-mail) since our 60th birthday party in 2006.

You may let me know of any updates by return e-mail or by phoning me at 770-834-4519.  We anticipate a fun time of reminiscing!  Details of the plans will be provided as they are confirmed.

Thanks,
     Dick Ingle
